I haven't written a post in a long time... I started this blog to write things that were funny about my kids, but things that are so easily forgotten. I am glad that I did this, because just looking back there are things that I have already forgotten since March ('Bible' head).
Sunday, November 8, 2009, around 5:00 p.m. my kids were jumping on my bed. I was laying on the bed on my laptop and the kids were playing/rough-housing. I had told them several times to stop jumping that someone was going to get hurt. Well, you know what comes next...
I hear this horrible cry from Bayley. Not just an I am fussy cry, but a 'mom-knows-somethings-wrong' cry. I jump off the bed, run around it, pick her up, and lay her on the bed. She has blood starting to pool on her forehead. I grab a hand towel and tell her to hold it on her head. She is still crying. Brennen starts screaming when he sees the blood and I tell him to go get me a phone. He gets one and its not working (come to find out later, he had unplugged the phone when he plugged my laptop in so none of the cordless were working b/c the main base had no power).
I take Bayley off the bed and lay her on the coach. She has just her favorite outfit on-underwear only, so I grab her a dress out of the dirty clothes and put it on her. Her hair and face have blood all over them at this point. I have my pajamas on, so I quickly put some clothes on and we head out the door. Bayley has no shoes on and Bren is hopping on the deck b/c he hasn't had time to get both shoes on yet.
We get in the van and start towards Bath County hospital. I finally get cell service and call my mom. She answers and I start crying saying Bayley has cut her head and I am taking her to the hospital and to please call John (who is at work).
I calm myself down so that I am not crying (although I know my voice was shaky). Bayley hasn't had a nap and she has her blanket over her head. I keep talking to them and say Bayley don't go to sleep. Bayley don't go to sleep. Brennen starts crying and says is she goes to sleep, will she die???
We get to the hospital ER. The blood has really slowed down so we are put in one of the little 'rooms' with curtain walls. The nurse comes in and cleans the blodd off of Bayley's face. I had grabbed a bag from the house of the kids' clothes where they had spent the night with my mom on Tuesday. There were shoes in the bag, so I put those on Bayley and gave her a babydoll (also grabbed when running out of the house). She seems calm.
Brennen is interested in the man that has come in the 'curtain' room next to us. Of course you can hear everything that is said when you are side by side. Bayley is playing with her babydoll on the hospital bed telling the doll she is going to be ok and covering her up with her blankie.
Mom and Dad get there pretty quickly and the kids are happy to see them. Bayley starts asking if she can 'go with you' to Grammy (mom).
The doctor comes in and says that she needs stitches!! Since she is two he explains that they will put her on a kangaroo board. So they strap her in: feet, middle, arms. The nurse crossed Bayley's arms over her chest and puts her baby doll and blankie in her arms. One nurse is holding her head still and I am across from the doctor on the opposite side reaching inside the blue kangaroo pouch and holding her hand. At this point, she is crying and the nurse promises her some icecream when she gets finished.
The doctor lays the paper drape over her face with a square cutout for the cut on her forward. He tells me that he is going to do a contiuous stitch from the inside which is called a cosmetic stitch. He gets out the large needle that has a numbing solution in it. He injects this right into her cut. She WAILS. It begins to swell up so that he can stitch from the inside. I have to turn my head because it is hard watching my baby girl go through this and I am not 'medically inclined'-LOL!!!.
Because Bayley has to be so still, she hasn't had a nap, and has a cloth over her face she falls asleep as the doctor is stitching her up!!!!! The nurse brings her in a pink teddy bear and her release orders. Her daddy picks her up and we head out to the van.
She wakes up as we are strapping her in her carseat and starts crying, "ice-cream, ice-cream" (because my children NEVER forget anything and the nurse promised her icecream). So, we all truck back into the ER: me carrying Bayley, John, Brennen whining that he wants icecream too, Grammy and E. The nurse is surprised to see us so soon, but after a little explaining, does recall that she promised Bayley icecream.
So, about two and a half hours after the ordeal started, we are headed back home with two kids and two cups of vanilla icecream, a semi-grumpy papa, and one emotionally exhausted momma!!!

It's Sunday!!!
I think we have just about conquered potty training (knock on wood). Bayley is now telling me when she has to pee or atleast visibly holding herself. She will still sometimes scream and cry while she is setting on the potty, but she will usually go (number 2 is still an issue)-I chalk that up to the drama queen in her!!!
Yesterday, Brennen was in my office at home and found a bobble head that I had picked up for him at TJ Maxx. It was on clearance for $3.00 and I thought it was Iron Man related. Well, he told me different when he found it and determined it was his from that point on. He has carried it with him to eat, to Wal-mart, and back home again.
On the way to church this morning, Brennen and I were having a discussion about the fact that he wasn't going to take toys into church. He told me that he could too take his Bible head because it had the name Bible. I informed him it was BOBBLE head and not Bible. Then he proceeded to tell me that when he was little he got to take toys into church and I told him he was a big boy and wasn't a baby anymore. He said, well Shell still calls me baby and I tried to explain that was a name like Honey or Sweetie. He then said, well E calls me baby because he don't know no better......awwwww the thoughts of a almost five year old.
Well, guess what? He won. He had the bobble head, 2 cars, and his blankey he wanted to take into church. I told him to pick 2 of the four and he decided on on the bobble aka Bible head.
Brennen woke up at 4:45 am this morning. I told him to go back to bead that it was still night-night time. He didn't want to go back to sleep and he wanted me to get up. I told him I wasn't getting up and thank goodness he can work the remote because he went out to watch TV on his own.
I am waiting for him to crash and be extremely grumpy. I know it is coming........
We are at Mom and Dad's now. The kids are occupied with Play-doh until lunch is ready. Thank goodness for grandparents.

We are on week 3 of potty training and it still isn't getting a lot better-you have to ask Bayley still if she needs to go. She will sit on the potty a lot of times and just cry. She is somewhat of a difficult child at times because I have no idea why her moods change so quickly, except that she is a GIRL.
Brennen is our little engineer. The other day he took a small child's coat hanger and a child's double coat hanger (for pants and shirt) and made a bow and arrow-and it looked exactly like a bow and arrow. He loves to tie strings from things to make traps and concocts of several step traps (I guess he got that from watching Scooby Doo). He'll tell me stuff like if Bayley steps on the paint stirrer and then slips on the skateboard and falls past the string...I will catch her.
Friday night we went to eat at KFC/Long John's with Michelle and Brady and Dad. Bayley pretty much cried the whole time, but she would stop for a minute and say, "I not cry anymore" and then two minutes later be back at it. During one of her few non crying moments, she looked up and saw a lady getting a drink. She had silvery-gray hair and her back was turned. It was a short hair cut and she said, "She looks like E do". Michelle and I turned around and saw what she was talking about and bust out laughing. We told Dad, who was sitting at another table with John and Brennen, and he didn't think it was too funny.
Yesterday when we were going to church (we were riding in John's car), Brennen was in the back tying a string on the box of soda that John had in between the two car seats and he was singing a little song that went like this...'SH*T, SH*T, SH*T'. John and I looked at each other and kind of laughed and I said, Brennen, what are you singing and he repeated his song. I told him not to say that word, it was a bad word. I am just waiting for it to pop up again!!!!!
At church yesterday, there were several young children and young families on our prayer list because of illness. We never know why bad things happen to good people or understand God's plan, but I know HE has a plan in everything. I am VERY thankful for my children and although they often 'get on my nerves', I love them and am grateful to God that they are healthy. My daily prayer for them is that they live a long, healthy, happy, Christ-filled life.

A New Blog
I am starting a new blog today to keep track of some of the day to day childhood memories of my kids. Today is Wednesday, February 18, 2009. Brennen is four (almost 5) and Bayley just turned 2 (and thinks she is 16).
We are potty training Bayley right now because as soon as she 'poops' she pulls her pants down to get the diaper off and makes a mess. Two Sundays ago, she did this twice before church and she was already dressed. She had to have two baths that morning and after the second one, I told her no more, from that moment on, we were potty training.
It has been a tough battle because she wants to cry everytime she sits on the toilet and has started this new thing saying "I'm too little". I compare it to breaking in a wild horse!!!
